Terms of Service
Last updated: April 15, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CoverageCobra (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Nature of the Service
CoverageCobra is a marketplace connecting licensed attorneys with other licensed attorneys who can provide appearance counsel services. CoverageCobra is NOT a law firm and does NOT provide legal advice. All legal relationships are between the attorneys themselves.
3. Attorney Eligibility
To use the Platform as an attorney, you must:
- Be licensed and in good standing with the bar of at least one U.S. state
- Not be suspended or disbarred in any jurisdiction
- Maintain appropriate professional responsibility (malpractice insurance recommended)
- Comply with all applicable rules of professional conduct
4. Attorney-Client Relationships
The attorney-client relationship exists solely between the covering attorney and the client (through the requesting attorney of record). CoverageCobra does not form any attorney-client relationship with users or their clients.
5. Conflicts of Interest
Attorneys must perform their own conflict checks before accepting coverage. Acceptance of a coverage request constitutes a representation that no disqualifying conflict exists.
6. Payments & Fees
Payments are processed via Stripe. CoverageCobra charges a $10 platform fee per completed transaction. Requesting attorneys pay in advance; funds are held in escrow and released to the covering attorney upon hearing completion.
7. Fee Sharing
Fee arrangements between attorneys must comply with ABA Model Rule 1.5(e) and the rules of your jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to ensure compliance.
8. Disputes
Disputes between attorneys are primarily their responsibility. CoverageCobra provides a dispute resolution process for platform-related issues (no-show, late report, overbilling). We reserve the right to issue refunds or suspend accounts at our discretion.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, professional misconduct, or failure to maintain good standing with your state bar.
10. Limitation of Liability
CoverageCobra is provided “as is” without warranty. Our liability is limited to the amount paid to us in the past 12 months. We are not liable for the quality of legal services provided by attorneys on the Platform.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
